Diurnal course of the sun - nadir viewing direction

Radiance The diurnal course of the sun is simulated by varying the solar zenith angle from 90 degrees (horizon, left) to 0 degree (zenith) down to 90 degree (horizon, right). Shown is the radiance in nadir viewing direction. The images were calculated with MYSTIC, in steps of 2 degree solar zenith angle. The grainy structure is caused by the statistical noise of the Monte Carlo model.
